DescriptionBlood, guts, uber-violence, mayhem, and screen tones! Lots of screen tones!Lone Wolf and Cub slice their way mercilessly through a pack of samurai with body parts flying, entrails oozing, and gory details in abundance. Victor Alpi used various screen tones and textures on the clothing and throughout the scene to create a stunning masterpiece. Then... he covered the entire page with screen tones to create the effect of shade from the forest trees above. Yep, the entire page is covered in screen tones. He then selectively carved out areas of light where the sunlight is peaking through the trees to reveal a clearer view of selected bits and pieces. Social/Sharing |

Epic piece! All the tones help draw the eye to cub.

The tones serve to disguise the horrors of the overhead shot of all the inkwork after Ogami has dispatched, eviscerated, and severed his way through a wave of killers.

Stunning detail and use of zip a tone combine for an incredible end result! As the sunlight just breaks through the tree cover, we see Cub as the lone bright spot in this bloody battlefield. Great commission choice for the artist. Alpi packed it to the edges!

Incredible! It took me a second to realize that Victor had light shining through the leaves covering everyone in the shadows.
He's leveling up as an artist with each commission he takes on. Congrats!

Bingo! That is exactly what is going on here. The entire scene is shaded by trees with little bits of sunlight shining through. Victor had that idea and wanted to experiment with extra screen tones to create the effect. Lots going on here. Perhaps it is time I added a description. 😅
