Description
this piece was part of the celebrating Batman month last year. Riccardo Latina did a series of Batman villains that included the joker, Bane, Catwoman the Penguin, scarecrow and a few others. I grabbed the Penguin piece right away but also was amazed at the amount of work put into this piece. The Scarecrow was always my favorite Batman villain, and I am happy to add it as a companion to the Penguin piece. the detail that was put into this piece is insane. I love the background overhead grate that lets a few beams of light into the Scarecrows Labatory, this helps set that creepy feel to the scarecrow as he emerges from the darkness. The claw like viles attached to his fingers that induce his fear toxins reminds me of Freddy from a nightmare on elm street "The dream warriors". The movie had a group of teens who battle Freddy in his dream state as sort of superhero's. the one girl was a reformed drug addict who faces Freddy as a bad assed street warrior with switch blades. Feddie holds up his hands and instead of his claw gloves they are replaced with drug viles on each finger and he say's to her: "Let's Party. "And takes her out fast. this is the updated scarecrow costume and is even more terrifying than his original. If you are interested in getting a commission from Riccardo, you can contact Annabel Kirby art Kirby's comic art and she will be glad to help you.

Chilling artwork!  This is serial killer vibes kind of creepy with the precise photorealistic line to bring us the nightmare live!

I am looking closely  at this piece and the amount of time he put into this is crazy good. The old Scarecrow wasa b list villain but this is what nightmares  are made of.

It's an absolutely stunning illustration for sure, Brian, but I think the real reason you really love it is because he looks more like The Sandman!

With that mask he likes a little like the rat catcher or the miner from my bloody valentine.

Thanks Eric. When all the pieces  went up for sale at once it was  hard choice between the two of them. I am glad no one grabbed it until now.

Wow! Really creepy Scarecrow by Riccardo Latina! I don't think I've ever seen a scarecrow quite as frightening as this one. Especially the needles attached to his fingers--Very Edward Scissorhands! Great pick-up, congrats!
