Sandman vs. Spider-man by Mike "Mez" Phillips & Bob Almond

Client Joe Goulart returns to the gallery for his 10th visit, this time continuing his series of Mike "Mez" Phillips pieces. This one, my 4th over Mike, is part of Joe's Spider-man rogues series by him (Electro, Hydro-man, Kraven, Madame Web, Scorpion & Sandman) and I chose Sandman because I could get down & dirty, pun intended, with the sand textures. This one was converted to blueline on 11"x17" Kubert 2-ply Strathmore board to ink on and besides my Kuretake/Pitt/Sakura micron markers I used Copic wide, X-acto blade scrapings, white & black finger smudging, white & black ink toothbrush spattering and a Pentel correction pen. The trick is to capture textures while at the same time not lose depth in this very spacious scene. I believe I captured that goal but I'd love to see this in color to see how that looks with organizing everything. This was finished January 25, 2023.
