Two-page sequence from the Hate storyline in which Buddy manages his pal Stinky's band, "Leonard and the Love Gods."

If you look past the time and setting of Bagge's Hate, you're left with a series that's still an incredible piece of social and cultural satire, with Buddy Bradley himself serving (deservedly) as the target for a lot of that satire. And even if you take away a lot of the trappings of the series, it's easy to understand why, visually, Bagge is one of the most highly regarded cartoonists to have come out of the indie/alternative scene of the 80s and 90s.

Soon after I purchased these two pages, I learned that Bagge is revisiting Buddy and his crew in an upcoming series. Can't wait.

I wrote her off for the Bagge Buddy page
And practiced all the things I would say
But I came over, I lost my nerve
I saw her ass and checked her records

Now I plow I'm being used
That's okay, man, 'cause I like her caboose
I know she's playing groupie
That's okay 'cause I got no other dream

Hate is such a great series. All comics are part and parcel of the era they were created in, so the setting didn't bother me when I read the whole series just a few years ago. This was a fun story indeed!

Great set of pages!  Quintessential Seattle Hate, when Leonard and the Love Gods reigned supreme!

Keep going Mark, get he next few pages as well for the set!

When I first started reading the page I thought Stinky was his penis and that he was delusional.

Peter Bagge is still very underrated for the importance he has, and congrats for a great page of such a relevant comic, and in my opinion it will remain relevant for a long long time.

Wow! Love these two Hate pages you posted! Peter Bagge's work is amazing to me. I love his slacker style and his '90s esthetic. This page is as delightful to look at as it is to read. I love the sad sack faces of the characters and the whole boneless look of their bodies. Bagge uses a lot of crosshatching on this page which I like, it gives the characters more depth and weight. I especially love that wide middle panel with Buddy following the groupie back to her apartment. The way they just drag themselves up the hill is hilarious. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
