Description

Another memorable Heinlein cover by Darrel Sweet for Tunnel in the Sky (Ballantine, 1977). The story concerns the use of teleportation technology to colonize other planets instead of spacecraft. Things get complicated when a group of young people go on a training mission to another world and the "tunnel" shuts down, stranding them in a "lord of flies" struggle.

I've always loved the SF concept of portals and teleportation, and Sweet does a great job illustrating the doorway into a beautiful but challenging new world.

Great concept that is boiled down to a fabulously done painting! The soft painted scene of nature interupted by the laser sharp geometry of the rectagular portal.
