DescriptionAll-Star Squadron #1 Cover Recreation (2011) Rich BucklerI was very happy to pick up this beautiful cover recreation done by Buckler in a recent Heritage auction. I have been a JSA fan since my earliest days of collecting since the first comics I collected introduced me to the golden age heroes and the multiple earths concept. After the disappointing cancellation of All-Star Comics during the infamous DC Implosion and the run-off of their last planned stories in Adventure Comics, I was thrilled a few years later when Roy Thomas brought them back to the well-deserved forefront of the DCU with the release of All-Star Squadron. In addition to the prominent images of Hawkman, Dr Midnight, and the Atom, you'll find a roll call of other golden age heroes from the JSA, Seven Soldiers of Victory and others including the former Quality hero, Plastic Man, and the Crimson Avenger whose first appearance in Detective Comics pre-dated Batman. Truly the stuff of legends. The Heritage description noted: Rich Buckler re-creates his own cover from the 1981 first issue of the beloved title. The published cover was inked by Dick Giordano, but here Buckler handles the completed art. Created in ink over graphite on bright white Bristol board with an image area of 10.25" x 16". The ink has changed hue to a sepia tone. In Excellent condition. Social/Sharing |
