Description

If you read this series in the late 90’s you know how cool it was. On top of that you also know how absolutely perfect the marriage of writing and illustration that flowed through Waid and Kubert was throughout their run. A standout of that collaboration was this issue featuring the battle of Kazar vs The Rhino and I’m thrilled to own this exact page. Personally, I think Kubert’s take on the Rhino character is only surpassed by Ditko and Romita but that’s only in inches.

I feel the same way you do about the artistic combo for this Ka-Zar revival. The Rhino is an awesome villain and looks amazing here. Great pick-up Steve!

Ka-Zar was definitely at his peak on this run. I remember it consistently being my favorite title every month for a while.

The Andy Kubert layout is great here and subverts our expectations of Rhino needing wide panels with the verticals and film strip ladder panel in between.

I'm right with you, man. I know a lot of people think of Andy's X stuff first, but for me it's Cap and Ka-Zar. Just some of the best action scene storytelling I've scene in comics. Just check this out! And that layout, whew. What's funny...I think the Rhino facing both Ka-Zar and Cap in their respective books is definitely a reason we dig 'em like we do! I got page featuring the latter. Congrats!
