Description
I like Sal Buscema as much as the next guy but when inker Gerry Talaoc jumped aboard Bill Mantlo's "Crossroads" storyline the art was a total game-changer for the book. I was only 12 when this comic hit Walgreens and even I could tell at that age it was really something different, special and even a little bit frightening.

Buscema and Talaoc were able to reinvent and transform the Hulk from an angry child to to an (almost) mindless savage as he traversed alien landscapes and he howled in anguish at the bizarre worlds around him. Even though it didn't take long for the story to end and the Hulk to gain back his dulled wits (as he always does), this run remains eternally held in high esteem and the art remains highly collectible.

Thank you to Paolo Rinaldi for walking through fire to get this to me.

I love the Talaoc inks, fits the story and fierce and scary look for Hulk.

A whirlwind of rage and fury!  So great with the blocky monster hideous Hulk face to growl at his captors!

Not familiar with these issues but doesn't mean I can't enjoy the art!  Every panel's got something to see, and love the uniquely rendered line work.  Kind of reminds me of Joe Kubert a bit, which of course ain't a bad thing!  Congrats!

Buy them. Dollar bin prices with fantastic art and stories. It would not cost much to buy the vast majority of them. Read from 200 up to 400. Avoid the Rocket Racoon one. Its not even his first appearance and avoid at all costs being ripped off for a copy of 340, which people are still asking chuckle worthy prices for. Its only Todd, guys. Hes no Buscema.

You got someone to walk through fire for this? You persuasive devil, you. How did he carry it back without it getting burnt? Did you provide an asbestos bag? Or did he wait till the fire was out before placing it in the packaging, hands covered by gloves sticking to his chargrilled flesh, to prevent black marks and carbonised remnants. Is he still in the burns unit or did he succumb to his injuries? We need to know. I need to know. Nice artwork. Its from my sweet spot of Hulk. There were some primo stories and art at the time.

I love how this arc really allowed Sal and Gerry to fully lean into the monster Hulk - the visuals were astounding! Great page!
