The painted interiors were high prestige back then and carried a higher cover price because of the glossy paper needed to present them correctly.  Incredible work by Dwyer as this has Pinhead and an intensely red panel climax.  He must have masked off the other panels to get that bloody edge effect to be so cleanly delineated.

He did a great job getting that line in there.  Obviously he taped them off.  I pulled it out to see if he actually had a different page for that panel, and he did not.  It's all together.  I have not had time to check my Hellraiser collection to see if I have #14 since I purchased this, but I will soon.  I'd love to see some original Sandman works that are painted, but I probably wouldn't like to see the price compared to these - which were FAR below value in the auction.  My wife used to own a gallery, and we never sold a random painting anywhere near like this for under $200 - abd definately not something published.  Always love your comments, Marcus!
