Description

Librarian Gene Ambaum and cartoonist Bill Barnes created the Unshelved webcomic which came to print in 13 book collections. This drawing appeared on Heritage as Unidentified Artist - Library Cartoon Illustration Original Art. I recognized the protagonist Dewey reading the comic book and his coworkers and customers. The strips take a humorous look at library life which is needed more than ever in recent years when extremists are attacking our institution. I met Gene and Bill at San Diego Comic Con many years ago and bought some of their books. I'm very happy to acquire this piece. As I wrote up this entry and created a link to the site, I discovered this illustration was the cover to the first Unshelved book collecting the first year.
