Master illustrator Barry Windsor-Smith had returned to Marvel's mainstream only a year prior and provided his visionary approach of texture and detail on this issue for writer Chris Claremont's revered story "Lifedeath: A Love Story", making this arc one of the most unique in the X-Men canon and serving as the quintessential character study of the X-Men's resident weather goddess. Because of the tragic aftermath of the prior issue's events -- Storm finds herself powerless and defenseless in Dallas, TX with fellow mutant Forge, who is inadvertently responsible for the existential crisis the mohawked X-Man is having. Ink over blue pencil and graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Faint toning, top right and bottom corners are trimmed, and there are marginal production notes.
