i had just gone to sdcc and that's pretty much if for the year for me but a buddy invited me to go with him and his son to austin for a day trip to galaxy con. i looked at the line up and just yes. hell. yes. one of the names that sold me was ben templesmith. i have a lot of art from him but i always enjoy getting more. at sdcc i had talked to him but ran out of time and didn't get to go back to get a doodle from him and it was bugging me. the line to get into the con was very very long. i think it took over an hour of standing there. i knew i only had a few hours so i reached out to ben templesmith via instagram to make sure he'd have time for me. when we got in we ran straight to him and he looked at me and said "are you sir shitsalot?". i totally forgot that's the instagram name i picked. i use nandoninny and that's what i see when i log in but the original account name was sir shitsalot. he said he had been asking everyone that came up to him that question and everyone was looking at him like he was crazy. i felt proud to say "yes, i'm sir shitsalot". :D anyways, i handed him the book and one of us said a xenomorph....and holy smokes is this a xenomorph!! and this is why i always try to get a sketch from him when i can.

Stirring shit up may be the best way to get an artist to deliver. This piece brings that perfect blend of artistry and gut level revulsion that a Xenomorph should.
