Description

At the start of his sketch card WhatNot streams, Jeff will often do a warmup card featuring a character of his choice, which he'll then auction off with a slight discount to the starting price. You can image my delight when I tuned into one of his streams a few months ago and saw him working on this incredible Umbra as the night's warmup card!

I love how clearly Umbra's demeanour comes across in this card: sassy, haughty, and more than a little threatening. Jeff did an excellent job using highlights to make sure that even though her costume is mostly the same colour, none of the details are lost. And, of course, the best part of the card is the way Jeff drew her using her powers! I especially enjoy how the shadows she generates are so dark that her hand appears extra pale, almost glowing, by comparison.

I like the loose line frame Moy uses and most of the short cropped hair do is accomplished with the brush pen. It works great with the thin lines used for the face. His colors and spots of white go a long way to define the contours of her face and figure.
