Description
Science Fiction is known for a variety of classic tropes (time-travel, space operas, alien encounters, robots, etc.). Here is another amusing trope of the genre -- using super science to create the perfect woman! Based on the story "The Woman you wanted" by Robert Silverberg (Future Science Fiction magazine, 1958), here is a classic colorful example by the great EMSH.
This piece served as the cover for both Future Science Fiction and Utopia (both from 1958).

Gestalt selector! Brilliant. Ah, the good old days of sf covers. You got a great piece by one of the best.

Ha!  I had to read the story to find out exactly what is going on here -- turns out the guy signed up for an eight year space mission in a small scout ship for two.  The only way to psychologically survive is to be paired with the PERFECT mate.  The machine is monitoring his response to a plethora of lovely android candidates.  The goal is 100% compatibility.  The blonde in white is the perfect match (as indicated by the "silhouette beam" created by his subconscious mind).  The twist is the blonde is actually a REAL woman who sneaks into the android line-up to prove to the guy (who she knows) that they are a perfect match and should get married!
