Description
Posting two more pages from the recently released Spectacular Spider-Men issues #1 and #2.

When the pages from this issue dropped, this one really stuck out because of the amazing detail of the characters and the sewer background. And so richly inked by the great Victor Olazaba. Plus, there was this mysterious hulking Spider-Man character in the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th panels that I had not seen before. Turns out his name is "Shift," and he was apparently introduced in Miles Morales issue #25 (April, 2021). This shows how far behind I am with my reading.

He is apparently a clone of Miles. He appears in the splash page before this one, putting a stop to the battle between Peter & Miles and the Vermin clones. Turns out Shift has been working to rehabilitate the Vermin siblings, as they are called by some people who just kind of appear from out of nowhere in the 6th panel. Seriously, where did they come from?

Anyway, Shift is an intriguing, well-meaning character who I hope to see in the future. (And in the past, when I catch up on my reading.)

Great page! Rich inks! Great expressions illustrated letting us feel the mood even without the words from the script!

Beautiful sewer page.  I really think we need more comic stories that take place in the sewers!  I'm totally serious!

Now Miles has a clone?  Good thing we can tell them apart unlike Ben Reilly and Peter Parker during the clone saga!  Nice individual brickwork to give us scale when the big guys show up!

The interior sewer brickwork is the star of the show here! So intricately done. But, Miles has barely existed for a decade himself and he already has a clone? Okay, I'll buy that. But only so Rek-Rap can pound the shit out of him and send him back to the petri dish he originated from! I must say, I've always loved sewer scenes in comics. There's just something about them that are great looking when illustrated in comic books. Wolverine at the end of X-Men #132, the entire Morlocks saga, Spidey and Vermin in Kraven's Last Hunt, etc. Beautiful page!

I think we need set up a lunch for Shift and Rek-Rap to grab a bite and meet :)  Yeah, the detail in this one is nuts.  Those meticulous inks particularly of the Miles and Shift costumes vs the backgrounds...not easy to do.  Go Victor!  Congrats, man!

There's definitely a similarity between Rek-Rap and Shift.  Good natured gentle bruisers, a little dim but meaning well.  I re-read some earlier Miles issues where Shift was first introduced.  All he could say at first was "Glurp!"  Haha!  Awwwwww.  He's come a long way.
