DescriptionLatest Golden Age Team-Up Project commission - The Brave & The Bold issue #242, teaming Batman with Blackhawk, adapted from the Gil Kane cover to Doc Savage #6, as reimagined by Bambos Georgiou.1949 - and a series of thefts of technical equipment in Gotham City has Batman on alert! Whilst out on patrol, he comes across a truck transporting electronic parts being attacked - by an eight-foot-tall green robot with serrated teeth (!) - and rushes to the aid of the truckers. The robot bursts free from the bat-rope which the Gotham Guardian attempts to use to wrap him up, and continues to tear a hole in the side of the armoured truck - and a second attack by Batman results in a deadly punch from the robot, which leaves the hero dazed for long enough that the robot escapes with the loot! Meanwhile, Blackhawk is escorting a plane carrying an atomic engine across country - only for it to be attacked by flying robots! A daring display of aerobatics by the aviator, in his Grumman XF5F Skyrocket, allows him to avoid being smashed from the sky, but despite his best efforts, the robots cripple the cargo aircraft and steal the atomic engine, with the crew bailing out. After Blackhawk swoops down to ensure that they have landed safely - and radios their position so they can be picked up - he heads off in pursuit of the captured cargo. Back in Gotham, Batman recovers, and - having planted a tracker in the electronic components seized by the robot he'd been battling - is soon on the trail. Arriving at an upstate lake, he's joined by Blackhawk, who lands nearby, and the two commandeer a waiting boat to cross to the central island. Shortly afterwards, a sleek roadster pulls up, and journalist/photographer Vicki Vale alights, having tailed Batman - and she purloins an inflatable boat to follow the two heroes! In a hidden lab below the lake, a criminal conspiracy is afoot - Superman's foe Colonel Future, allied with Doctor Darrk (Hourman villain and creator of the 8-foot green robot Giganto), criminal engineer The Gadgeteer, who had battled Steel in 1940, and the robotically-bodied Professor Gurn, one of Air Wave's antagonists, are completing their evil work, using the captured components retreived by Giganto and the atomic engine snatched by Colonel Future's Mechanical Marauders to recreate the giant robot known as Mr Atom! As the final switch is thrown, and the robot awakens, Batman and Blackhawk burst into the lab, and make short work of both Doctor Darrk and the Gadgeteer, but the remaining villains put up a strong fight, allowing Mr Atom to crash out through the walls of the evildoers' lair, and head across the lake towards Gotham! Spotting Vicki Vale being snatched into the air in her inflatable boat, both heroes rush to her rescue, but Blackhawk's machine gun attack proves useless, and Mr Atom hurls both the heroes and the plucky photographer to the ground before continuing ashore. Setting off in pursuit in the Batmobile, with Blackhawk riding on the running board, Batman is able to lure Mr Atom towards Mammoth Caves, on the outskirts of the city, and the two heroes decoy the giant robot into following them into the caves, escaping via smaller exits whicn Mr Atom is too large to use. As the robot tries to turn so he can use the main entrance, the rest of the Blackhawk Squadron, summoned by radio by Blackhawk, arrive on the scene in their planes, and a barrage of rockets blows up the entrance to the caves, trapping the giant robot within, buried under thousands of tons of rock. The threat of the recreated Mr Atom is ended ... or is it? Find out - next issue! Social/Sharing |

It's really nice as Kane's inking style is very easily distinguished so Georgiou has to mimic that style precisely! Super dynamic cover with packed linework and action!
