Description

I was struck by this image of an older Natasha when I saw it a few years ago. The idea of an Old Woman Black Widow (Grey Widow) in the same universe as the classic Old Man Logan story was one that sounded like a great fit. I inquired about it a few times through various channels but didn't have any luck. A few months ago, Felix finally put it up for sale, and fortunately I was quick enough on the draw to snag it. It's a classic McNiven piece of my favorite character, with the fine linework and detailed crosshatching that's a hallmark of his work. This artwork was used both as promotional artwork for the Marvel's Wastelanders podcast, and as part of a variant cover for Wastelanders: Black Widow #1.

McNiven's finessed line brings grace and beauty to the elder Natasha. Time has been surprsingly kind to her, given the rigors of spycraft and Avengering.
