DescriptionThe long-running comic strip Nancy has had something of a renaissance since 2018 thanks to the mysterious Olivia Jaimes. Jaimes is credited with revitalizing the strip by modernizing it while still retaining the core of what makes Nancy, well, Nancy. Not an easy task given the high regard in which the Bushmiller era strips are held.Jaimes recently announced at this weekend’s NancyFest at the Billy Ireland Museum that she’ll be taking a several months break from the strip and leaving it in the hands of several talented cartoonists, including Caroline Cash. Cash’s star has risen over the past two years with her work on the cheekily titled anthology series PeePee PooPoo, which was recently nominated for an Eisner Award in the Best Limited Series category. This piece pre-dates her upcoming work on Nancy but it’s clear she has an affinity for the character and the offbeat playfulness of the strip. Social/Sharing |

If I don't see her each day, I miss her
Gee, what a thrill each line Bushmiller
Believe me, I've got a Jaimes
Oh Nancy with Off Branded face
Pee takes with Pooper and she makes Ritz humor
Newspapers could take a few lessons from her

Holy shit! Looking at this two page strips has me feeling like Nancy in panel 5 of the first page. Just call me Stoned Rubén. I've always loved Nancy as well as the Fritzi Ritz strip that preceded it and in which Nancy first appeared, so this is really cool to see!

Thanks! That was an illuminating read. I've read the Karasik and Newgarden book referenced in the article and plan to read the Griffith book soon.

You are (the?) one collector whose gallery on CAF I can come to to discover artists I've never heard of. Fun cartooning here, congrats.
