HOWARD THE DUCK ORIGINAL ART SIGNED GENE COLAN

This item is a page of one of a kind original pencil art on 9"x12" paper of Marvel's Howard the Duck with his girlfriend Beverly Switzer as hand-drawn by the legendary GENE COLAN (1926-2011) as a gift to his Howard the Duck magazine sometimes art partner Dave Simons (1954-2009). Gene wrote to his friend "Dear Dave, Life is always filled with great surprises expect your share. Love Gene / Gene Colan". It is signed in pencil by Gene but not dated. There is a diagonal crease on the bottom right corner near Colan's signature. This item was owned by Dave Simons and from his personal collection. Dave served on the Inkwell Awards core committee from late 2008 until his death in June of 2009. It was donated to support the non-profit Inkwell Awards by Dave's sister Bette 15 years after Dave's passing. Proceeds will go towards the Dave Simons Inkwell Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Kubert School created 15 years ago. A letter of authentication signed by Bob Almond will accompany all items sold to verify that they came from the Dave Simons collection and whether the item is authenticated as having Dave’s or someone else' signature.
