Description

This was a page I brought on a whim and I really question myself why I did it. Just as I question why DC ever decided to publish Bomba the Jungle Boy. Still obscure characters is one of my "things".

I decided to do a little research and the novel series was a blatant attempt by a publisher to sell books based on the Tarzan series being so popular. Then of all things a couple of Bomba movies were made and shot in black and white to save money.

Then in the sixties someone repackaged the movies and made a TV series. At that point I guess DC banked on TV fans buying a Bomba comic.

And here in 2024 I decided to add Bomba the Jungle Boy by Jack Sparling - whose work I often think is well done and often not sure if I like his style 100%.

Kitsch piece.

Bomba lives on.

I've never heard of Bomba either but what a great page! The panel grid layout and the croc breaking the panel are really cool features that seem unusual for the time, (although I'm probably wrong on that).
