DescriptionSpider-Man #94 Pg. 18Pencils by John Romita Jr. Inks by Scott Hanna Written by Howard Mackie Peter Parker "Transforms" Into Spider-Man Mid Air! This issue of Spider-Man released in 1998 is extremely sentimental to me for personal reasons related to a friend who passed away. Albert Moy had the entire issue (or most of it, I don't remember exactly now) and broke it up at some point, I would have bought the whole issue if I could have, but I was too late by the time I'd noticed it was out there. I was not as on top of the market and art drops at the time and had a lazier approach I suppose. Anyway I was happy to snag 2 pages from the book, including this one where Peter Parker is transforming into Spider-Man (shedding his clothes including a jacket Mary jane gave him as a gift) in mid-air after jumping out of a window because he needs to stop Ox from kidnapping Jill Stacey (Gwen's cousin). He uses his webs to stop their getaway! I previously posted a Splash Page from the issue featuring Kingpin & Ox, if you missed it you can check it out HERE. It didn't get much love with only 4 comments and 1 like, I thought it deserved better!!! :-/ Social/Sharing |

That first panel is worth the price of admission alone! Pete to Spidey, just like that, no time wasted! Nice overall top to bottom page, too, Kavi, congrats!

thank bro! yea that single panel might be one of my overall fav panels in the collection - id take any page from this issue I can get my hands on if it's reasonable and considering where his market is now I'm more than happy with the decision in multiple ways

Why do I feel the next page Peter, Ox, Jill and Rocco all stare strangely into a mirror.

That first panel is among the best panels JRJR has drawn: the sense of movement, the camera angle that sets up the second panel. It's all great!

Every panel is spectacular, not just the first one. I especially love the sense of scale in panel two, followed by the extreme closeup on panel three. But I'm admittedly disappointed because I thought you were about to regale us with the heart wrenching tale of what happened to your friend!

Thanks Ruben - every panel is def great even though the first one gets more attention for obvious reasons. I didn't want to write something extremely lengthy/personal but the short version is they passed away about 6 years ago in a hospital after complications from a brain aneurysm leading to stroke. He was very influential on me getting back into comics in "adulthood" lets say in the late 2000s and early 2010s, luckily we did get to hang out at a convention the month prior to his passing, the last one he was able to go to

Thanks, Kavi. I figured it wasn't a memory you wanted to dredge up again. That's a horrible thing to happen to anyone, at any point in one's life, so I appreciate you telling me.

Supes has it easy with the midair-changing, being able to fly. Spidey... is virtuoso.
