Description
Darth Vader looms large over Tay Vanis (his 1st appearance) and his shapely manifest droid LE-914 on this classic Star Wars cover by Ron Frenz and Tom Palmer. A bold and dramatic composition that speaks for itself.

It’s a classic pose that recalls Darth Vader’s famous scene from the 2005 Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith, the third and final installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy in which Darth Vader yells "Nooooo!" after finding out the fate of his pregnant wife, Padmé Amidala.

Star Wars fans rejoice…May the 4th be with you!

Brilliantly conceived scene by Frenz brought to life by Palmer's masterful inking.

I hate you Dino! The dark side of the force is not only strong with Vader in this scene, but it's strong with me in my jealousy of badly wanting to own this cover !!! I did bid too, but was nowhere close.

Putting my light side of the force jedi cloak on, I'm glad it's in a great home - congrats Dino! May the force be with you.

Love how the "A" gives Vader's helmet a spike like a Prussian pickelhaube.

Absolutely iconic Star Wars cover by Ron Frenz and Tom Palmer. The cover features a hologram of Darth Vader looming above the figures of an injured Tay Vanis and his droid LE-914. Just looking at the Vadar figure, you know their suffering is all his doing. Gorgeous art by Frenz and Palmer. Love the detailed image of Vadar breaking through the "Star Wars" logo. Love, too, the fragile figure of LE-914, looking up at Vadar, knowing this is the end for her as well as Tay Vanis. Spendlid pick-up, congrats!

Was this inspired by the cover of the 1978 Star Wars novel "Splinter of the Mind's Eye"? It has the same elements but in different poses.
