DescriptionPaper Girls #14 Pg. 9Art by Cliff Chiang Written by Brian K. Vaughan Picking up the story a few pages later from Page 1, KJ approaches "the three men", whom according to Wari together "fathered" her son Jahpo (the baby that appears and is being protected/hidden throughout this issue by Wari and the rest of the girls, not pictured on this specific page though), as they are attempting to forcefully question a mysterious woman they are calling the "dream woman" to get information out of her as to locate Jahpo's whereabouts. KJ gets their attention and draws them away towards her further into the forest, allowing the other girls (Erin, Tiffany, Mac) to jump in and help cut the mystery woman loose from the tied up vines on the next page. For sure! I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and even the subset relationships within them, the overall story (even the parts that on multiple reads I'm still contemplating if I got the full meaning of) and the multiple timelines that it takes place in (big time traveling elements obviously), and the 80s sort of "Goonies" or Stranger Things vibes to it in general - plus the art by Cliff and writing by BKV, it was just a very strong pairing for me personally. I've posted a cover and several interior pages already in the past in my Paper Girls folder in the gallery but still have a handful of pages left to post - Ive also unfortunately had 2 pages stolen from issue 15 (long story) so I may have to post those on their own incase anyone can keep an eye out for them

As you know, I'm not a Science Fiction fan. So while everything I had seen about this series led me to believe that the story was set on earth and was about real life stuff based around a group of newspaper delivery girls, it was so disheartening for me to read a bunch of it, only to suddenly find out it became a Science Fiction story. So, definitely not for me, but I want you to know that based on how much you professed to love it a few years ago, I did at least give it a fair chance. I also love enjoying the art vicariously through you, because it's always nice to see someone be passionate about comics. Ironically enough though, I LOVE Saga!

I like Saga a lot but there have been times where the run made me a bit eye rolling or weary for various reasons, however it's still ongoing and continuing to tell it's story (and I have also kept up with it via trade paperbacks) so it's harder to judge it in full when the whole story isnt finished versus Paper Girls or Y The Last Man (comparing BKV's most well known creator owned work) so by the time it ends my overall ranking might change - but I'd say Saga is #2 for me and Y #3 just comparing between those 2 books. I like Fiona Staples artwork more than BKVs writing I guess, if i had to generalize my view of Saga - just wish there was some of it I could buy with it being digital only art obviously that will never happen. I also think potentially despite having sci-fi elements and a bigger scope than just "every day life", Paper Girls resonates with me more than Saga does. Maybe because I'm not a parent myself, or maybe just some of the cliche aspects to the story with Saga (starting as a romeo/juliet love story on opposing warring factions etc.). That said I'm not hating on Saga at all, its really good/entertaining - I used to have many 9.8 slabs of the series including #1 and a bunch of variants. still have a few but not as many as I used to - and I've also bought every volunme of Saga as a trade paperback when each new volume has come out

Yes, I agree that Saga was pretty obviously starting as a Romeo & Juliet love story, but on the other hand, it's that simplicity that makes a Sci-Fi non-fan like myself be able to tolerate it. The fact that the more common tropes like time travel and different timelineshaven't made their way into the series is especially why someone like me can enjoy this Science Fiction story. But as I always say, it's all about different strokes for different folks. Though I agree, it's frustrating as an art collector to enjoy a series so much but not be able to acquire some representative examples from it!

Seems the only one who doesn't see BKV
Is the page in the Paper looking back at you
You walk around here thinking woman dreamy
But that's not true I'll cut you loose
Hold on, Wari, you're losing it
The girl's in vines, Mac's jumping into it
And Erin goes, and no Jahpo
That you cry, but you don't tell anyone
That you're Tiffany and that olden one
And she's tied together Cliff's art style
But you're coming undone

Terrific page from the series. Vaughan and Chiang really stuck the landing on this series.
