14x18" matted artboard has mixed media original art for cover of Four Color #555 (Zane Grey's Range War "Hash Knife Outfit"), published by Dell May-July 1954. Image matted to 9.5x12.5". Pearl Zane Grey (1872 - 1939) was an American author and dentist. He is known for his popular adventure novels and stories associated with the Western genre in literature and the arts; he idealized the American frontier. Art is by Hank Hartman (1913-2011), best known for his lush cover art for Dell's Lone Ranger comics and other Western properties, such as this Four Color cover. Art shows cowhands cutting barb wire fence to open up grazing area for cattle. Hartman has signed at lower right. Lt. aging/wear. Painted art is attached to foamcore board and has double mat attached. Art displays Exc. Ready for framing. Includes low grade comic that just comes along.
