Description
Grafity's Wall Story Pg. 82 (Pg. 96) - Chapter 3
Art by Anand Radhakrishnan
Written by Ram V

Grafity's Wall is an excellent standalone graphic novel story written by Ram V and illustrated by Anand Radhakrishnan (aka Anand RK) released by Dark Horse Comics in 2020.

When an aspiring street artist "Grafity" (real name Suresh) sees the illegal tenements outside his home destroyed, he finds in the debris, a lone, standing wall--one that'll go on to become a summer-long canvas for the lives of four friends getting by and growing up in the constantly changing and challenging environment that is the city of Mumbai, India.

Having a team up of an Indian writer and an Indian artist, doing a story set in Mumbai/India, really appealed to me as an Indian American comic book fan! And this duo delivered something pretty special.

This might be one of my favorite auction wins ever ($25 winning bid on Comiclink!) because of the personal story value to me vs the total cost ratio. I paid full price for other art from the series during art drop, and was happy to, so this was a nice bargain for me!

The top panel is blank because it's an all handwriting/text panel (see additional images for published reference) but I enjoyed this section of storytelling about bringing the lost art of writing letters to people back from Chapter 3 which is focused on Grafity’s friend Chasma..

In the published graphic novel this ends up being page 96 instead of 82 as marked on the art, because of index/credits/foreword and chapter pages that inflate the page count.

A fantastic tale. Anand is such a fabulously special artist. The price you paid was just an insanely good deal. Basically free for a piece of extraordinary art. I try to grab pages whenever I can too.

Dear Kavi,

How are you doing? Hope you are feeling well. I am writing to let you know that this a great page and you got it for a steal of a deal. The weather is really warm right now. Hopefully we get some rain soon as the wildfires are really bad.

That is all for now. Take care.

John

P.S.

There's a dozen Peruvian Owls perched on my fence staring through the window.  I think they must be INCA HOOTS.

Across a painted desert lines to bring Radhakrishnan
Anand's left of what we were, it's walls we have become
Once our debris glorious but now the empire's gone
The dead gave us the time to bid and now our snipe is done

Now we are brictorious, we've gave up our pay
A land of hope and Ram V, bidding great art for the brave

Have you seen the writing on the Wall?
Have you seen Ram's writing?
Grafity the writers Mumbai strong?
Grafity them riding?
Grafity them writing?

Ah, ComicLink....the place where a lot of quality art goes to die. Twenty-Five bucks?! They're giving it away!

Great page and fantastic win. Anand really packs a ton into these smaller pages. Congrats!
