Here's a great example of a Jack Davis Playboy cartoon from the 60s, wonderfully executed by one of the most talented illustrators of the 20th century. Plus, even though it's a Playboy gag, it's G-rated to boot. (I think most, if not all, of his Playboy gags are similar.)
Can you think of another artist whose work appeared in Mad, Time, TV Guide and Playboy at the height of their circulation in the 60s and 70s? Not to mention seminal work as a visual storyteller at EC Comics --- and hundreds of other commercial gigs?
Nope, me either.

One of the greats with the cartoony style that's so versatile! Sports is a favorite genre of Davis as he finds the humor in the action by taking a step back. He shows the contest like it was a metaphor for the human struggle with made up rules that one has been caught in.

Excellent example of his cartooning. I love boxing themed art, too, so that makes this even more special. But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how beautiful the color palette is as well. An outstanding piece!
