DescriptionHeroes 2024 Pickup.I made up my mind last year that any time I'm at a con with Steve Epting, I'm getting a commission. Steve and I discussed the idea of building out the Avengers team from his era in a series of individual commissions and he was thrilled with the idea. I think enough time has passed that he welcomed going back to that well. We kicked things off with this Black Knight and Sersi piece. Here's an excerpt of the conversation we had when he started working on the piece: Steve: I’m wondering if you want Black Knight in his classic costume without the jacket. Some people love the jackets but a lot of people hated them lol. Eranga: I’m THAT guy that loved the jacket era, Steve! Steve: Ha ha —okay! I’m that guy too! This is the era that I was reading the Avengers most, and there were some great Sersi stories during that time. I'm sad now I missed Epting at heroes. Great piece!

Awesome commission. I never read Avengers except for the occasional X-Men crossover, but I always loved the concept of Black Knight. Such a cool look! Epting knocked this one out of the park.

We all love whatever version of the characters we saw when we were kids, don't we? Personally, I'd leave the jacket at home, but Epting is so good that ANY version looks good regardless!

Gotsta have the jacket :) Great idea on commissioning the characters from his Avengers team of the time, and even better execution! Congrats, man, and looking forward to more!

Oh this is just terrific - I can't wait to see the rest of them, even if I'll be INSANELY jealous!
And I'm totally Team Jacket - everyone who knows me knows that! Including Steve!

Amazing Choice! I woud have made the same choice to start with this was the team I grew up with and yes, the jackets did work with some of the charecters and some it did not like Cap but, I draw the line at the weird Headgear that they wore near the end of the book.

We're on the same page! Jacket didn't work on Cap (WHY?!). The head gear was definitely not my jam either.
