Description
Welcome to the days of High Adventure!!! Conan the Barbarian 18, page 20 (last)

After watching Barry Smith take this book to incredible heights, it took me a little while for this issue to grow on me. But the more I read it, the more I love the story and art! This page especially resonates with me because I love last pages, they sum up the entire story.

This page is also special in that on this page it introduces the character of arguably the most driven warrior monarch of the Hyborian period (besides our own favorite barbarian!) King Yezdigerd of Turan!

Conan and his companion Fafnir have just finished their wild adventure and are rescued by a Turanian galley, on it they find Prince Yezdigerd (At this time!), preparing to wage war on the port-city of Makalet. They accept his bid.

Interesting also is that in the battle Conan had stolen Gothan's neckace an emblem of Kingship (the static of which is unfortunately missing). The barbarian ruminates as to what it means and Fafnir reminds Conan of his dream that foretold that he would be a king someday!

Conan is right up Gil Kane's alley for fantasy adventure to display his skills for the dynamism in the anatomy of the human figure!  Some very controlled art where Adkins continues from inking BWS to keep the energy consistent from the issues!

Exactly! What I like is that Kane's Conan has a youthful look, like BWS. A lot of artists draw every Conan story like he's a 35-40-year old. Here he is an 18-year old kid & he looks & behaves like it.
