Description

I saw this in Adam's portfolio and was drawn in to the emotionality of the page, before Allison shared that it was done as cover art for the Superman Returns Prequel series and that the woman featured in the piece is Ma Kent.

The raw emotion was visceral at the very first glance and I am just now sitting with the thought that this is exactly what I'd imagine a mother looks like, after seeing her son go off to put himself in danger for others.

Very emotional piece with Martha holding onto her bible and her lantern to light the way for her son to come home. It is more human than a typical Superman piece by featuring a relatable family back home scene as the effect of how Clark's service to the world is like that of a civil servant or serving in the military.

I really liked Adam's work on these covers. Lois is my favorite, but Ma Kent is a close second.
