Description

While I enjoyed a great deal of Salvador's X-Men related comics, his finest work in my opinion has been the Alien book he did with Philip Kennedy Johnson, and, my favorite by far, his Doctor Doom book with Christopher Cantwell. (The Darth Vader stuff was also great, of course, a close 3rd we'll say)

So since my two favorite comic works by him were completely digital, and there would be no opportunity to own pages, it was a very simple decision for what to ask for when I had the chance. He suggested a few options as to how the Alien and Doom could interact, and I think this was the clear winner. I expected a typical battle scene, which he offered, the other suggestion was mounted trophy heads Doom was admiring. This one he said was inspired by imagery he had seen of a Lion chained by a tribal Chief.

I love the layout and the inking work overall, and especially on the Xenomorph and on Doom's armor, it is so fantastic. Salvador won one of the major awards at the Inkwells this year and his abilities in that capacity are definitely award-worthy. I hope maybe he'd consider to move to more of a hybrid digital pencils physical inks process in the future, but the vast majority of his interior work in the last 10 years has been digital, so again I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to score this commission!

Amazing design! Both look like they wear a crown! The tail and the throne are concentric arcs to drive home that they are equally dangerous.
