Joe Bennett and Jack Jadson, The Deathstroke the Terminator Family (After Some Become Black Lanterns)

As they prepare to murder Deathstroke, the deceased members of Slade Wilson’s family – his son Ravager I, manservant Wintergreen, wife Adeline, and brother Ravager II – whisper sour nothings to his surviving children Ravager III (Rose Wilson) and Jericho. A Blackest Night tie-in from Teen Titans vol. 3 # 78, page 14 (2010).

Compared to my Captain America page by this same team, with its precise lines and economy of used space, Bennett’s style here is clunky and crowded. That’s perfect for the oppressive feel of this zombie story. The earthy art helps convey that the risen dead here were more grounded than other Black Lanterns flying around at the time. While indestructible and not averse to a sword fight, these guys were more interested in having an “honest” conversation. (Of course, the discussion always came back to why Slade should either kill himself or be killed. Hey, they’re Black Lanterns, not conversationalists.)
