DescriptionBlack Cat Amazing Fantasy 15 HomageBlank Sketch Cover Artwork by Rachta Lin Here's another piece in my "old art, fresh scan/appreciation" series of uploads I've been doing on CAF recently. It's Felicia Hardy Black Cat doing her best homage to Amazing Fantasy 15 with some freshly stolen (presumably) pearls done by Singaporean Manga & Comic Book Variant Cover artist Rachta Lin, whom I have several pieces from in my gallery. I love the piece, but to be honest, the real reason I'm doing this post is to share and spread the love a bit about a fantastic hobby documentary created by a friend of mine, which tells the tale of how this piece came together along with several other stories. The documentary is called "The Last Con: A C2E2 Story" and takes place at C2E2 in Chicago in late Feb/early March of 2020, just prior to the entire world shutting down for the Covid-19 global pandemic. It was the last major comic book convention that occurred prior to the pandemic, and it would take nearly 2 years after that for conventions to return at full force. It's about 5 hobby friends who met up in Chicago to have a blast at a convention, not realizing it would be the last chance to do so for quite some time, until we reflected on that after the fact within the documentary interviews. The documentary was created by and stars Adam (Bear Island Comics), and features George (Dee Runk Comics), Jason/JP (JP's Budget Collecting), Kenny (ComicHead84), and myself as my hobby "persona" nickname Don Dotta (Comic Books NYC at the time on social media, now I am going by Panels Pages Pixels). Several other content creators make cameos/guest appearances. If you have the time (it has a 47 minute runtime), please give it a watch, and comment/like/share it with anyone you think might enjoy it. It really is a great watch and I'm not just saying that because I'm in it. Should be seen more than it has, but that's not easy on YouTube. Not only does it tell the tale about this particular piece, but also the Jenny Frison Wonder Woman cover I own, and the moments when I acquired my comic book grail, a copy of TMNT #1 1st Print. 2 years after this convention back in 2022, 4 out of the 5 of us were able to get back to Chicago for C2E2 once again and make more hobby memories. Unfortunately Adam was not able to make it, so we were not able to make the sequel to the original documentary as we had originally hoped to. Not yet, anyway... This is fun! I enjoy a well-done manga take on comic characters.

I got a Rachta, I gave in to manga
I know I should've bought it, at least I'm being honest
Feel like Felicia, 'cause I know C2E2
I should've done you better, 'cause do in mix media
And I know, and I know, and I know Lin gives you everything
But boy, I couldn't give it to you
And I know, and I know, and I know that you got pandemic
But quarantine you here after two
So one last time
I need to be the one who takes this home
One more time
I promise Adam that, in Chicago
Kavi, I don't care if you got her in your art
All I really care is you make up time that’s gone
One last time
I need to be the one who takes this home

ooooh! This is slick! Not normally a big fan of this style art but this really works for the character. Great pick up Kavi!

Really nice! I can SO appreciate art online so much better when it is depicted in the form of a quality scan! Saw the documentary a couple of years back, fun stuff!

Thanks! Yeah having had this piece for 4.5 years and never having had a proper scan was a shame, until now! And thanks for checking out the documentary, I think I remember you mentioning to me back then that you had.

Gotta love the wink ;) Nice muted colors, too, and I'll get to the doc when I got some time, man! Congrats, and thanks for the FYI!
