Very important artwork for Sorayama historically I think. This is an extremely rare 1977 Early Sorayama painting. Published in 80s "PINUP" (Book with the pink pinup cover). Also a Sorayama trading card for Silver & Satin 1997 Comic Images. Published on spine cover first Masterworks edition. She was rendered in 77' BEFORE Sorayama created his first "Star Wars" Cyborg painting, his first robot in in 1978. I found what appears to be a similar reference photo from the 1976 Sci-Fi film 'Logan's Run" in which Hajime apparently was also influenced by Farrah Fawcett's character Hope. Master Sorayama studied English literature and Greek studies and our goddess here has a Greek symbol on her right breast like a tattoo so this was personal. This is what I found online regarding what appears to be the symbol. I LOVE this one to be honest. The red background is so rich! Psi is the 23rd letter in the Modern Greek alphabet. Psi is also the first letter in the Greek word for psychology: Ψυχολογ?α. The root word ψυχ? ('psichy' or psyche), means life, soul, and heart in Greek. If you are gonna get a Sorayama get one that has something shiny in it that represents where his direction went like some chrome like this outfit with the boots. They scream more early Sorayama. The boots are definitely more SILVER than the pro-scan I had done which had a hard time pulling the true color. Please see the image of the frame. This one is signed as an Embossment. Dated 1977 on verso. Board prior to framing is approx 15 x 20 in original frames by Bane. Frame is plated in gold but does show some wear. I can get COA from Robert Bane (Tamara Bane Gallery) that is the original gallery that sold these decades ago and I have good relationship with Robert. (Lucky for me he lives 30 minutes away). This was however done years before his representation with Bane. Sorayama held onto it for a couple decades before he finally sold it. SEXY AS F!! And in my opinion one that can be hung in most collections without compromise! I had it temporarily removed from frame and scanned and checked condition. There is very little loss and wear to edges and it is EXCELLENT. I am happy to send you images of reverse. I replaced the acrylic with UV. Painting is ready to hang. Of this subject, he wrote: "A friend of mine, the designer Hara Koichi, wanted to use C-3PO from Star Wars for a Suntory poster presentation. But time was short and there were problems with copyright fee[s], so I was asked to come up with something." So here you go Sorayama fans 1977 BEFORE HIS ROBOT! This is cool piece of history!
