DescriptionLooking for clues in Siberia, Martin recommends they visit his favorite sort of place: “In 1890, at the age of thirty, he entered this monastery as a novice. He was called Father Makarij and, after ten years of monastic life, he became a “starec,” that is, an anchorite monk. He was very charismatic, and it was said that he sometimes had prophetic visions. His fame as a seer grew and spread. It was during this period that he met Grigori Rasputin, who had just left his family after a mystical crisis. A deep bond was born between the two, so much so that Rasputin decided to follow the monastic path and become a starec himself.” “Madame Blavatsky was originally from Dnipro in Ukraine. It is plausible that she had heard of Mikhail, too. Blavatsky died in London in 1891, before Makarij became a monk, which is why he is referred to in the letter as ‘Pastor Mikhail.’” “Hmmm... Yes, it all makes sense. Our problem, however, is: What do we do now? How can we find evidence of Prince Rudolf's possible visit to this place? We are at a standstill, Mystere. What do you usually do in your adventures?” “Well, when I don't know what to do, I always head to the local library, hoping to find something useful there.” Three panels have four rounded corners all around, showing that each is a self-contained flashback scene. An anchorite is a hermit. Blavatsky must have been one of the first to recognize Mikhail’s prophetic gifts, even from a great distance detecting a kindred spirit. Social/Sharing |

The settings are real stars in these pages. The Russian Orthodox church and the monastic flashbacks contrast with bright and dark tones respectively.
