Norman Lindsay Tribute

Roy Krenkel greatly admired the Australian artist Norman Lindsay, collecting his etchings and even corresponding with Lindsay and his agent back in the early 50's. In tribute to Lindsay, Krenkel created about a dozen ink drawings, 10 of which Lindsay's agent sold to Australian collectors. This is one of the tribute pieces; it appears to be based upon Lindsay's "To the Refined in Spirit" and "Enter the Magicians" (which Lindsay considered his finest etching).

Roy's friend Al Williamson also admired Lindsay as a great artist; and Bill Stout and Gary Gianni as well consider Lindsay an inspiration.

Creepy and beautiful all at the same time, I love this piece it reminds me of the engravings of Gustav Dore.
