Description

The second of back-to-back Black Panther pages I’m posting today by Chris Allen! From the last volume of BP and from the penultimate issue. And in this last page splash, BP meets the big bad behind the scenes, the soul eater Kivu’Ma.

Nice large zoom-in profile shot of BP in his new look on the left as well as his nemesis on the right. Design-wise, dug how Kivu’Ma has those eyes and faces incorporated reflecting trapped souls.

Some sleek inks here by Craig Yeung, who I got these pages from via assist from fellow collector bud, Michael Benham – you da man, Mike! And these are my first pages with the setup where the penciller penciled digitally, so no physical pencils exist, but the inker printed those blue lines and inked them. So this is the only physical art. So, yes, blue lines, but not? Or not in the way we traditionally think?

In any case! Happy to have these consecutive pages setting up the next issue throwdown!

These are some lush and skillfully laid-down inks by Yeung. I'm not familiar enough with Allen's work to say whether Yeung is faithful or not to Allen's pencils but this page presents well.

Ferocious looking splash man!! I dig the extreme zoom in perspective and the bold inking. I've personally gotten over any hangups about blue line pages (either way they are produced, digital pencils or pencils on seperate board), it's still the art that was used for the publication of the comic, full stop. congrats on the pickups!

Now THIS is a face off for the ages! Today, my money is on Kivu’Ma! In fact, Marvel should publish a Kivu’Ma vs. Fenris Wolf one shot! A very exciting and dynamic splash page, especially after the great lead-in page!
