Description
I honestly consider American Century among the top three Vertigo titles I’ve read. One of the reasons for that is its consistent quality of all aspects of its production. Writing, art, coloring, even the lettering, really impressed me in a way no comic has before or since.

At the same time American Century was coming out I had a woman in my life who could have starred in a Vertigo title due to her behavior. One aspect of her certified madness was her freely admitting to wanting to baby trap a man so he would have to support her, followed by her trying to hook up with me, as she apparently thought I was too stupid to remember her talking of her life goals.

On one occasion of her making a pass at me I summoned up every ounce of stunted man-child in my genes, and explained to her that I had both gotten back into video games, and purchased Resident Evil 2. I went on to say that there was no point in continuing the conversation further, as anyone with half a brain knew orgasms were temporary, but escaping Raccoon City was forever. While it did not get her out of my life forever, it did reduce her advances for an appreciable time.

Stumbling upon this page by the fine team of Medina and Stokes I was blown away by the art. Seeing it was the page of Meg proselytizing that orgasms are temporary, car racing is forever brought back memories of denying “my essence,” as General Jack D. Ripper once said, to that would-be baby momma all those years ago. It became a part of my collection post-haste.

I can understand for Resident Evil 2.  You might be raising kids if Cyberpunk 2077 was released that year.

As a tabletop RPG geezer, it's hard not to respond with a ramble about how I remember when it was.Cyberpunk 2013, and how Ianus Publications had rules for vampires and werewolves in Night City.

I'm oooollllddd...
