Description
I don’t try to acquire too many modern pages.

Especially story pages.

I miss the ballons lettered directly on the art boards. The modern pages look “incomplete” to me. (And often exacerbated by backgrounds that are digitally added later as well.)

But… I’m definitely a fan of Jock’s art, and this page was much too cool to pass up. It’s from the Dark Universe spinoff, “The Batman Who Laughs.” One part Batman. one part Joker. Bat-Joker indeed.

And of course, it’s a fight page — without balloons, you still get the basic idea.

This is phenominal.  It represents what Jock does best with the thin outlines and filled with dynamic brush inks within that represents the cauldron of emotions in this battle.  The close up on the eyes is so full of rage before Batman fights back.

I'm with you, Greg - Jock is one of the great contemporary artists, evidenced by his wholly unique style. Congrats!

Greg, I understand what you mean by the missing word balloons and in most cases I agree, but with a style like Jock's which is so fast, fluid and loose as we see here, this is one of those exceptions where I happy the word balloons are not on the page, as I think they would interfere with the visual flow. Great stuff!
