Civil War in Secret Wars #5 Cover - Kirby Monster Variant - Lo-Karr, Bringer of Doom (2015)

I love monsters. In October of 2015, Marvel ran a series of 26 variant covers featuring Jack Kirby monsters drawn by 26 different artists (one for each letter of the alphabet). This is the "L" cover: Lo-Karr, Bringer of Doom! Originally appearing in Journey Into Mystery #75 (1961), Lo-Karr is a robot built by a scientist to look like an enormous alien with the purpose of scaring the world into ending the Cold War and uniting against a common enemy. I think it's great they chose to put Lo-Karr on the cover of a Civil War book, given the Cold War history. I also enjoy Cassaday's reinterpretation of Kirby's artwork with the silhouetted figures in the foreground and the buildings for scale.
