DescriptionFIRST:This was the first O'Mealia piece of art I owned and it is still my favorite. It speaks to a time in America when baseball was "America's Game". It was the sport that everyone knew and followed. As you can see, this particular cartoon speaks to the fears that TELEVISION was going to ruin the minor league fan-base. Isn't it great to go back in time? SECOND: When comics and sports come together! This picture was created by Leo "the Lion" O'Mealia. Leo was a sports cartoonist for the Rochester Herald, the Rochester Times, The Globe and the New York Daily News. Leo O'Mealia was also known for his work on early issues of Action Comics, Adventure Comics and Detective Comics in the late 1930's. Social/Sharing |
