Description
I asked Tom to recreate the Grummett / Kesel Superboy #12 cover as a Silversword cover. Superboy lived in Hawaii at the time of the original series and Karl / Tom had created a Native Hawaiian Superhero called Silversword. The original Superboy story features the serpentine villain Copperhead who sneaks into Hawaii in the cargo hold of a commercial jet in a manner similar to what has been recorded for the invasive brown tree snake coming from Guam prior to the establishment of a focused quarantine working on this issue. The original story has some parallels to a New York Times Sunday Magazine piece on invasive species in Hawaii and Guam. For those unfamiliar with Hawaiian natural history, the silversword is a super cool native plant found in higher elevation areas of Maui and Hawaii Island.

Mahalo to Tom and Karl … your efforts related to this commission are great appreciated !

A classic from the mid 90's reimagined!  It's great that artists from that era are willing to revisit their work and they are even more meticulous in this work than when they had to face a deadline.
