Full handmade pencil drawing on 67,7x39cm on a thick illustration board.

In this image we see Jean Grey's full-length alter ego, charging all the energy of the phoenix!

I started this painting at Napoli (Italy) Comicon in 2015 and it is one of those that required a longer gestation but probably the thing that distinguishes it is experimentation and research.

It's my first portrait of Black Phoenix but I haven't really been able to develop a precise idea. Over time, therefore, I tried different movements of each part of the body, superimposing pieces of paper scotch in order to find the right one.

I also felt the need to enlarge the figure to start so I rafted sheets to increase its size.

Then I was looking for effects and so I started using low-pressure spray acrylics and then material brushstrokes.

I then put it aside for a while, thinking I had exaggerated... recently though, I had some insights into how to finish the painting, doing several digital tests and now I'm incredibly satisfied with it!

In addition to all the paths that the painting has made, the mix of effects now seems to me to make it come alive and I hope you like it too!

I love working on this type of characters like superheroes, with their dynamism and spectacular power!

The drawing is provided with a certificate of authenticity that certifies its uniqueness.
