DescriptionI went to Lucca Comic Festival in Italy last weekend with one goal. To come back with a good Micheluzzi page. I have been a fan for years and own two pages already but there were different elements I wanted. I got most of what I want in this page but also couldn't help also getting the second page as it reminded me so much of Pratt and Corto in Siberia with Noel Sickles influence. So, got both. I had set my goal about 6 months ago. I found out there would be a Micheluzzi exhibition at the show too which was a bonus as a nice overview of his career and this work so I knew how it fit into his oeuvre. The line work and storytelling are quite stunning. You can just imagine Alex Toth admiring the economy and efficiency of the page. You can see Ruben Pellejero and Tim Sale taking ques from this. The images of Petra are great but the last panel was the icing on the cake. The tilt in perspective is brilliant. There are a number of key Italian artists that everyone that appreciates the medium should know but unfortunately don't. Some you know. Names like Micheluzzi, Battaglia, Magnus, Manara, Crepax, Jacovitti, Toppi, Serpieri, Pratt, Pazienza, Giordano should be as household as Romita, Colan and Everett. Social/Sharing |

Stylish and slick with the stones that build this city being featured throughout and referencing the arch more than once. Maybe to bring about similarities in the gravestones as similar stone monuments of what is left behind.

Just sublime and while the acting and layout really shine, it's the settings that really does it for me. The page is so believably grounded.

I only found out about the Micheluzzi show as the con was about to start. Would have been amazing to see but I went last year and saw the Battaglia one which was an absoulte must. These are some spectaular pages and I am still shocked his work is as affodable as it is. Nice pic ups, hope you had a great time at the con and it wasn't pouring rain like last year.
