DescriptionI have been adding a few cels to my collection from my favorite anime and cartoons. I've purposefully kept this a very controlled and limited engagement as this could easily become a much bigger hobby. I am not involved in the community at all other than with other comic art collectors who also collect cels. Two of the interesting trends of late is that most animes are now made completely digital so cels and genga/douga will never exist and might never be produced again. As cels age, they can have issues and the true longevity of modern cels is unknown but we do know many cels from yesteryear are not holding up as well but with proper care we can probably prolong their existence. What has happened is that the original pencil drawings for the cels have become more collectible. It is my understanding in the past there was little interest in the pencils but the painted cels were in demand. Now there some who will only collect the pencils due to concerns over the cel's future. I take care of my cels. I'll do my best to keep them safe and I'll get to enjoy them during my time on this planet and after that they will pass on to someone else and so the worry about cels changing that much in the next 20-40 years is not a huge consideration for me. All this to say, I also collect the pencil artwork from series as well although I do prefer the painted cels. Here are 3 cels of Sheeta from the anime. See additional images below.Social/Sharing |

This sequence too is wonderful! And it comes from one of the most iconic movies from the genius master Hayao Miyazaki! After I've seen the documentary "Hayao Miyazaki and the Heron", I understood finally how hard is the work for an anime creation and production.. and Miyazaki is not only an inspired genius artist but also he put all his energy on each own creation movie.
