Description
I wanted an interesting Kent Williams piece to add to my collection, and this Vertigo cover became available. This is an interesting mix of medieval and Chinese. Apparently, he was working on this as a demonstration project for Barron Storey's art class in San Francisco (the California College of Arts and Crafts, I believe), and SF's Chinatown influenced him.

Lots of flavor of the city with those overhead lines for cable cars and the Dragon's Gate at Bush St. and Grant Avenue.

Wow, that's weird and cool. I would never have guessed it was Williams' work. Any hints as to when it was painted? I mean, whether it may have been painted years before he broke into comics? It has that sort of feel.
