Description

Being a big Caniff fan it is not surprising I am also a Sickles fan. Took a while to find the right illustration by him. Very happy with this one. Great composition, and cool technique of using a blue sticker as a kind of glaze. Added an extra pic that shows the bubbling of the sticker but I don't mind adds to the charm of the piece.
HA didn't know what magazine this was from so if you know please reach out. :

Notations on verso indicate this was published in a June issue of a magazine illustrating the serialized story "The Last Frontier Marshal."

Honestly I am surprised it didn't go for more. That said the HA description was not accurate about the condition ( and I emailed them about it) and they didn't really show the sticker and bubbles. If I didn't already know that and what I was buying I would have been upset when I recieved it. They said it was watercolor. Even with the issues with the sticker I think it is a cool piece with some great visual storytelling.

Such a killer design to this piece and that black vs blue...what a contrast. Also really makes you hone in on the goings on. Great piece, Matt, congrats!
