DescriptionClaudio Castellini, the spiritual successor to John Buscema, is in a class unto himself as evidenced by this massive and painstakingly detailed piece. How he creates the effects that he does with pen and ink is almost impossible to decipher. The economy of strokes on Surfer's board creating a gleaming, glistening effect is hard to accomplish. The depth of perspective between the Surfer and the underlying planet is striking. Truly a master of the craft.Social/Sharing |

Unreal. I'm jelly. Castellini was born to draw the SS and his world. Any question why? Just look at this. Whew. Huge congrats!

My winter nights are eating up the planets
Stress and holiday shopping comics
But I close my thighs and I'm somewhere else
Just like graphics
In my art is Galactus means harm
Where the Marvel would come
To dance Silver sparkling lights
Bundled up illustrations of old
John Buscema would flow
And I just wanna be there tonight
Sweet Castellini ink ribbon
Beefcakes are a given
And everything is icy and blue
And you would be there too
Art by the Claudio
Watching the fire glow
And telling me, "cosmic view"
Just being at the start
Takes me back to that scribble art
Where hungry wish comes true

Beautiful piece, but to me more channeling Bart Sears (whose work I love), than John Buscema. Congrats!
