DescriptionPublished 1949 by Sage - Sagédition in FranceLe mystérieux docteur Styx The Secret Agent X-9 strip was created by Alex Raymond and Dashiell Hammett and first published January 22, 1934. X-9 was a nameless agent who worked for a nameless agency. Jean Frisano (1927-1989), started in comics in 1948 working mainly for Parisian publishers. He drew covers for Sage, some in collaboration with his brother Pierre Frisano, the both of them signing as Sano. He later did original covers on reprints of Marvel superheroes comics for Editions Lug. Social/Sharing |

Wow, how cool is this? Not only a European published cover, but one dating back to America's Golden Age of comics and illustrated by the man best known stateside as the guy who did those covers for Editions Lug. Really cool!

Nice movie serial feel and brush work! I like the design including a small X-9 tied and hanging from an overhanging boulder with vultures circling.
