Description
Published in the 70's.

Cosmicon was a Toronto's based Comic Con held at York University that ran from 1972 to 1975.
The first convention featured Jim Steranko as the guest of honor.

This illustration was most likely done for a cover to a supplement for one of the the Cosmicons.

The artist Ken Steacy is a Canadian comics artist and writer best known for his work on the NOW Comics comic book series of Astro Boy and of the Comico comic series of Jonny Quest, as well as his graphic novel collaborations with Harlan Ellison (Night and the Enemy, 1987) and Dean Motter (The Sacred and the Profane, 1987).

Well, I'm a-runnin' Cosmicon going Ontario
I've got Supplimental on my Guide
Four arms wanna hurt me, two legs wanna kick me
One says he's a friend of mine

Take it Steacy, taking Ken Steacy
Don't let this kind of tonal screens drive you crazy
Cover up while you're in Can
Don't even fly to other lands
Canada's place to make your stand
Take it Steacy

The real question is if he is a Senator or a Leaf fan.

Tough call,

Cosmicon was based in Toronto, but

the Senators sure loved their knives..

Cool, this may be the earliest Steacy art I've ever seen! Allow me to also add that Steacy is mostly known to mainstream comic book fans for his Marvel Fanfare stories!

Great character design on display, and I love the screentone! Especially on the hand lettering. That is a nice touch.
