Bertron Diib by Barry Kitson

Almost every month, Barry Kitson takes sketch suggestions on Facebook. And almost every month, I have suggested that he draw Bertron Diib, a character Barry designed way back in 1991 for L.E.G.I.O.N. And in December of 2024, Barry picked my suggestion! Bertron was created for the L.E.G.I.O.N. R.E.C.R.U.I.T.S. squad, and was by far the coolest-looking member. He looked truly alien, and had a fun personality. Bertron was invulnerable, impervious to everything (except emotion, as he once stated). Barry went all-out with this "sketch", giving Bertron the full figure, full color treatment, and I couldn't be more delighted with this piece! It's gorgeous! Thanks, Barry!

Ohh, this one is just insanely cool!!! And I love that Barry went absolutely all out with the full figure and gorgeous background! It's good to see your patience pay off, and for you to finally get a piece with good old Bert. Congrats!

While the character is not colorful, Kitson compensates with character defining body language, dramatic spot shadows, and a painterly stars and nebula backdrop!

Crazy design straight killed by Barry on this commission! All those hues of brown on the character...then that background. He truly went all out on this one. Congrats!
